One of the first trips Maggie and I took was to Talapus and Olallie Lakes. I had taken a several trips with friends and had finally acquired enough of my own equipment to go it just the two of us. Hiking to an alpine lake is my favorite kind of hiking and the great thing about living in the Pacific Northwest is that alpine lakes abound, the tough part is picking which lake to hike to. Eventually I decided on Talapus and Olallie Lakes, we would stop for a break and to take in the view at Talapus before hiking on to Olallie Lake for the night. This is the perfect hike for beginners or anyone looking for a quick trip out of the city.
